The Center for Great Expectations in Somerset, NJ:
Hospital Based Detox Programs
In some circumstances a person may have medical conditions that could get worse during detox. Things like cardiac issues, uncontrolled diabetes and uncontrolled blood pressure along with withdrawal may require a hospital level of care and detox. Unfortunately, there are not many that exist and even the ones that do may not be able to admit a person unless they are in active, severe withdrawal due to insurance restrictions. Usually, a free-standing addiction treatment center will suffice for most detoxes. Due to the ever-changing world of hospital acquisitions and insurance issues most people in a hospital for detox also have serious medical concerns and may be admitted for other reasons then detox.
